LUTEOLIN
I was taking luteolin in a different combination product as part of my protocol. At those lower doses, I honestly felt it did nothing for me. When I added Find Relief, I definitely noticed a difference. That made me want to dig into what the research says about this little plant compound.
A quick-view graphic with the key points is at the bottom of this post.
The supplements recommended by Rise Above Lyme are listed under WHERE TO BUY for easy shopping.
WHAT IS LUTEOLIN?
- Luteolin is a natural plant compound in the flavonoid family, the same big family as quercetin.
- It is found in plants like celery, parsley, thyme, rosemary, chamomile and hot peppers.
LUTEOLIN AND MAST CELLS
- In lab studies, luteolin kept mast cells from releasing histamine and other chemicals. That is why it is grouped with mast cell stabilizers, not antihistamines.
- A 2024 lab study from Tufts University School of Medicine compared luteolin with cromolyn, a mast cell stabilizer medicine. In human mast cells grown in the lab, luteolin was stronger than cromolyn at blocking the release of histamine and tryptase. It also lowered inflammatory cytokines that cromolyn did not change.
- A 2025 review in Frontiers in Immunology describes how luteolin affects many kinds of immune cells in lab and animal studies. Studies in people are still needed.
LUTEOLIN AND LYME
- Dr. Samuel Shor's 2023 review of natural supplements for tick-borne illness mentions luteolin in lab studies, where it worked together with baicalein (from Chinese skullcap) against Lyme bacteria. These were lab studies, so studies in people are still needed.
PEA AND LUTEOLIN TOGETHER
- Studies in people have mostly used luteolin in combination products, not luteolin alone. Two recent studies used it with PEA (palmitoylethanolamide).
- In a 2022 study of 69 people with long COVID, a plan that included PEA with luteolin plus smell training was linked to better sense of smell and memory over 3 months.
- In a 2025 placebo-controlled study, people with frontotemporal dementia who took PEA with luteolin for 24 weeks had less decline than people who took a placebo.
- These are early results, and more studies are needed.
FIND RELIEF
One I personally love: Find Relief, formulated by my doctor, Dr. Thoring.
- Each serving (3 capsules) has 250 mg of luteolin, along with 600 mg of PEA, 200 mg of quercetin, 200 mg of Baikal skullcap and many other amazing ingredients.
- Having so many ingredients in one formula means fewer bottles to buy.
- Show your doctor the full formula. Every ingredient and amount is listed on the website.
