The Diagnosis
In 2013, Jessica Devine started to become sick. She suffered for years not knowing what was causing her illness. Jessica saw over 30 different doctors up and down the state of California and none of them could properly diagnose her. She eventually became bedridden and was losing all hope when she was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease and several related co-infections.
Spreading Awareness
After finally receiving the treatment needed, and after lots of trial and error, Jessica’s health finally started to improve. Because of her remarkable story, Jessica began giving TV interviews to spread awareness about Lyme disease. From those interviews, she started receiving letters from viewers who also suffered from Lyme disease and thanked her for her spirit of hope and resiliency to not give up on her health.
Founding Rise Above Lyme
Incredibly touched and inspired by those who reached out, Jessica began joining support groups for Lyme disease online so she could connect with more people suffering and aid them in any way possible. However, Jessica discovered most of the groups to be depressing, focusing on all of the terrible things instead of looking for answers. So, Jessica decided to start her own group that would be positive, motivational, and a beacon of hope to those suffering from Lyme disease and any related co-infections. Now five years later, that group has expanded into the Rise Above Lyme of today.
Rise Above Lyme is an initiative dedicated to helping those suffering from Lyme disease and its related co-infections. Through our online support groups and compilation of verified resources, we aim to provide those suffering with hope, comfort, and advocacy so they can rise above Lyme.
Hold on to Hope . You are worth fighting for. I promise it can and will get better. I will walk beside you until you believe that too. You will Rise Above.

Our Values
Hope
Hope is the foundation of everything we do. There is no way through this disease without having hope for treatments that work, healthcare providers that understand, and support and empathy from family and others suffering from the disease.
Advocacy
We understand what our community is suffering with. We assist them by promoting fundraisers for their treatment, directing them to resources that can help, lifting them up with motivation to keep fighting, and helping their family understand what they are struggling with.
Empathy
Having personally suffered from Lyme disease ourselves, we understand what our members are going through. We are sensitive to their needs and are constantly reaching out to them with love, hope, and optimism.
