What I was taught and experienced....
We are meant to tolerate treatment and herxing is often a part of it. Not everyone herxes and that is great and doesn't mean you aren't healing.
If it feels like too much, then it is time to adjust or take a break for 2 to 3 days. I did better at restart. If I was feeling worse and clearly herxing, I kept at it, increases detox and herxing remedies to continue.
BUT
... if I was tortured or extra miserable is when he had me either back off or take a short break before continuing. Especially if my herxing remedies just wouldn't cut it.
Pushing it is not safe as we have to be able to clear the toxins (die off) from treatment to prevent sepsis etc. It's a hard call sometimes and I admit to taking it too far personally. I feel it is because so many of us are so determined to regain our life and we are tough from living this disease that we try to push through.
I hated taking breaks but over time I did learn they helped me in the long run.
To quote my doctor "You are NOT meant to be tortured in treatment, you are meant to tolerate it. If it feels like it's too much to handle, it probably is time to back off." I learned it's a very personal judgement on when it is too much. If I grab things to help and keep going OR am I messaging the doctor constantly was a good judge.
*i made this post cause I am asked often and this helps me grab it more quickly.
