Supportive Oligonucleotide Technique (SOT) is a treatment for cancer or some infections. Over the last few years, it has grown in popularity as a treatment for Lyme Disease in particular. However, there are mixed and conflicting results and feedback on SOT for Lyme. We are always hopeful.
We are not promoting or discouraging it's use but want to cover the subject for our members. I have spoke to many who have benefited. I often ask my Lyme doctor about it. Unfortunately, SOT can be expensive and outcomes are not consistent across the board. We can hope overtime, with more feedback, more doctors will support it. My doctor said the patient needs to be able to detox and address mold for best chance of success.
I am seeing a lot of positive, but the results seem to vary depending what else is at play in the patient's current health status and the order it is addressed with SOT. So it seems the clinic you choose also matters in this. A few SOT clinics are overcharging Vibrant testing that may be just a few doing this. I'm still gathering that info.
Some feel it has truly helped them, but others get nothing positive from the treatment at all. The reason varies.
Important to note that SOT is being questioned on its effects against Bartonella. None of us know quite yet.
Practitioners offering SOT to Lyme patients have appealing advertising. So many of us our desperate. So keep an open mind that it may work, it may help minimal. It may be life changing. We would caution everyone to remember the risk of falling for advertising with something new and expensive in Lyme treatment. We see this often from many treatments. But it is important to have hope. Especially if you choose to do it.
If you have had SOT treatment and saw improvements, we are happy for you! It does appear to help a percentage of lyme patients. For those for whom money is no object there may be no harm in trying this treatment "just in case". For others living on tight incomes we don't want you to feel you are missing out on the best thing since sliced bread by not being able to afford it. There are other many affordable treatments worth pursuing in your quest to recover and feel better.
We welcome comments (good or bad experience) from people that have done it as it helps our members! Straight from Lyme patients themselves over advertising is always my preference.
Here are some links about SOT we have always liked for the way they explain what it is and how it works...
Here is the SOT group I suggest joining as I trust the admin. Please thoroughly answer the questions or you will not be approved. Most of the info you seek is in their files. Once approved, you will want to read those.
