LOW DOSE IMMUNOTHERAPY (LDI)

Updated: Aug 28

We are not recommending or endorsing this because we simply haven't done it and don't have enough feedback or information. I plan to ask two separate Lyme doctors in the next month to get their current opinion on its use and success rate depending on where you are in your recovery. I will then come back to this post and add what I learn. If you have experience doing it, please share, including costs involved.

Low dose immunotherapy is a treatment that works by improving immune “tolerance” when there is an inappropriate immune response. Low dose immunotherapy (LDI) can successfully treat infections, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory conditions."

"There is a relatively new treatment for Lyme disease and the co-infections that is designed to improve how a person feels by regulating the immune system away from inflammation. Some practitioners using this method are reporting improvements in up to 90% of people. It is called LDI which is an abbreviation for Low Dose Immunotherapy."

"Patients are administered extremely low levels of biologically inert pathogens or allergens to slowly build up tolerance to their immune triggers. The concept is similar to allergy shots, but the concentrations are much lower and broader in scope.

In the case of chronic Lyme, patients are given extremely diluted doses of Borrelia burgdorferi and 74 common bacterial co-infections. The broad range of pathogens is key since many patients are dealing with a combination of these infections or may develop a reaction to them over time."

Low dose immunotherapy, "(LDI), is a revolutionary treatment that has been shown to provide dramatic relief of symptoms and improvement in health for patients with a wide range of chronic illnesses, including Lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Hashimoto's, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, interstitial cystitis and lupus."
