Whether you're looking to learn about LDN (low dose naltrexone) used in treatment, convince or educate your doctor to prescribe it, or trying to find a doctor who prescribes it, I wanted to cover all of this in one post to help members in future. I believe in it and have used for 10 years now.
It is used to help pain and inflammation as well as modulate the immune system. I've used it for many years. This drug is widely known in the medical community in high doses to come off drugs, etc., but in low dose applications it was found to help pain and support immune system. So be aware of why some medical professionals at first make a weird face when you bring it up. Low dose is used for completely different issues. I've received some strange looks through the years when I say I take this but I swiftly educate them. Any non ignorant doctor can search and see you know what you are talking about.
This is how i was taught below. I am not a doctor but openly sharing how I did it:
You introduce very slowly. 2 weeks at each dose. Longer is also ok. I originally took 8 weeks, till I got to 4.5. Cut the tablet into quarters, basically.
For example based on 4.5 dose:
1/4 tablet at bedtime. Stay there for 2 weeks.
If stable and doing fine increase to 1/2 tablet (2.25) at bedtime for 2 weeks.
3/4 tablet for 2 weeks or longer.
Then:
4.5 mg at bedtime.
I tolerated this well. It takes a little adjustment, but nothing compared to antibiotics. It is amazing in my opinion, and helpful for numerous reasons. Some people swear by it. There is a great Facebook group on it too.
