BLOOD PRESSURE ISSUES

(DO NOT try without discussing with your doctor) This is just sharing information.) Cardiology post at bottom to learn more.

Always check with your doctor before trying anything to help blood pressure issues. I wanted to share what my doctor often uses in both issues. Both can hurt you if you overuse as you can see in the articles. Moderation and discussing dosage with your doctor is very important. It is also a good lesson that sometimes something what seems innocent can hurt you if you overdo it, when it has medicinal uses. Licorice in particular if you have high blood pressure could be dangerous. I only used these with dosage instructions from my doctor.

NOTE ON POTASSIUM:

"Potassium exerts a positive effect upon the walls of the blood vessels, relaxing them and thus lowering systolic blood pressure (the top number). It also causes the kidneys to release sodium, and water follows sodium, thus lowering blood volume as well..........While supplements do exist for potassium, it’s a good idea to add it only with medical supervision, as potassium levels should be kept in a fairly narrow range. Too much is particularly problematic for those with kidney disease, but excessive levels of potassium can also lead to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, arrhythmias, numbness and tingling. "

LOW BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPOTENSION)

Besides electrolytes and salt remedies for POTS (which is often enough to correct this issue, please see our POTS/electrolytes post) My doctor uses Licorice extract to raise my blood pressure at times.
